Hee Sung Lee is a poet, a writer, a yoga teacher and a painter from Hwasung-city, Korea, recently moved to Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
Painted on a handmade paper with natual pigments Hee Sung mixes herself to acheive an embrodery like effect, her 'Om' mandala paintings vibrate with lights and raw energy. The bright and colorful geometric forms etched in a cluster of 'Om' symbols which sometimes take on a form of serpents, Sun or Moon have been the mainstay of a spiritual path she has been treading for the last two decades. So much so that Hee Sung likes to call them "meditational work" and not paintings.
Well known in Korea for her collection of meditation poems and essays in 'Four Million Miles of Seeking After Truth; published in June 1996 and 'Mysterious Yoga' in May 2003, she also had two acclaimed art exhibitions; in Osaka, Kapan in 1996 and in Seoul, Korea 1999. In 2004, she had a large solo exhibition in Mandi House, New Dehli featuring 130 paintings. In December 2007, Hee Sung held her US premiere exhibition at Treasure Gallery, InterChurch Center in New York City.
